Tunbridge Wells

I was delighted several years ago to be asked by Neil Kerber to design a website for him. He is a one of the UK’s most talented cartoonists, with his work featuring in Private Eye, Daily Mirror, to name just a couple of publications. I’ve made a start on the new site and will be finished early next week. More soon.

I’ve just been asked to do the website design for The Bridge To Work, an organisation that is being set up to assist school leavers in making the transition from school to the world of work. The site will have a content management system incorporated so that they can update the website themselves. It will also have an interactive forum so that users can login and post messages.

Just as I thought we had seen the last of the snow in Tunbridge Wells, yesterday brought near blizard conditions for about 3o minutes. It was most wierd sitting in the office seeing quite small snow particles swirling around. It settled for a while and some still remains, but nice clear blue skies now even if it is very cold.

Off gliding for a couple of days next week, so hope the clear skies and northerly winds keep up – might get some ridge soaring in along the South Downs if it does.

A busy night last night at the Tunbridge Wells Air Cadets. I’ve been away for a couple of weeks so have got behind on my paperwork.

Three cadets got awarded their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards, which was really good to see. We should have a batch of Golds this year as well.

Exams for them coming up in 4 weeks, so I need to get stuck into some revision. Hopefully we will have another 6 cadets complete the BTEC Certificate in Aviation Studies this summer.

I’ve now finished a new site for Sheila Webb. This was a makeover from her existing site. Luckily Psychotherapy Tunbridge Wells was available for her domain name, which will be very useful from a search engine point of view.

I hope to be finishing off the site for Sponge Kitchens in Beckenham next week.

This week I am working on a Membership Manager for the Beluga Bar Website in Tunbridge Wells. I designed these about 3 years ago and they are now maintained by Rachael who adds new gallery pictures and updates the offers. The membership manager will enable them to effectively capture email addresses and run online marketing campaigns.

First night of Stars in their Eyes was at the Angel Centre last night. My daughter did a Pixie Lott number ‘Mama Do’. It was really fabulous She was so nervous singing for the first time in front of an audience.

Joe played lead guitar on a number by The Ordinary Boys – ‘Boys Will Be Boys’. I wasn’t sure about the song choice when the were rehearsing, but it worked realy well.

Well – Saturday turned out to be a marathon driving session. Left Tunbridge Wells at 5am to go to Bridlington in Yorkshire. Got to the M11 at around 6am to find it closed at Harlow! Nightmare – side roads were covered in ice and jack-knifed lorries. Journey took 6 hours in the end, with one brief stop. Left to come home at 2.30 pm – got the the M11 – to find the south bound carriageway was closed this time!!

12 hours on the road , by the time I got back to Tunbridge Wells I had entered a Zen like state. I am definately not cut out to be a long distance lorry driver.

Anyhow – plenty of work to get on with this week. Elsan website to get live and Sheila Webb. Also need to do the paypal stuff for Sponge Kitchens.

Hill View School are staging a series of gigs at the Angel Centre in Tonbridge over two nights next week. It is a ‘Stars in your Eyes’ event, with all years groups from age 13 up to 18. By all accounts there are some very good musicians and singers taking part. My son will be playing in his band – songs to be finalised, but it is looking like it will be something from Radiohead, Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys. My daughter is also doing a rendition of Mama Do by Pixie Lott. Should be fun – I shall report back.
